چکیده

With Taiwan’s steep terrain and fracture geology, natural disasters are likely to occur after heavy rainfall. To reduce the effects of upstream sediment on human surroundings, check dams are an essential transverse structure for streams in watersheds. However, there is likely to be a detrimental visual impact on the landscape without consideration of the integration of dams with the environment. Based on previous studies of landscape assessment, this paper considers the factors of texture, color, and form, often used as part of expert paradigms, as the major aesthetic aspects of check dams. These factors are used to construct an expert questionnaire using the Delphi Method and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The preliminary criteria and weights for Scenic Beauty Assessment of check dams are determined based on the results of AHP. A Fuzzy Logical System is further applied to solve the linguistic fuzziness of landscape assessment so as to establish a complete expert scenic beauty assessment model. Five cases are further tested for comparison with 224 public samples with Scenic Beauty Estimation (SBE). Results demonstrate that the model presents the validity of expert paradigm and the reliability of the psychophysical paradigm. These results can provide a reference for engineering designers seeking to integrate check dams with the natural landscape. The results indicate that the present method can efficiently assess the scenic beauty of check dams as established by a scientific method.

Qualitative and Quantitative Assessment of Check-dams Effectiveness for Flood Sediment Deposition (Case Study: Dam-tang Watershed, Darab)

One of the simple methods for erosion control, flood mitigation and flood damage reduction in the streams is building the check-dams. The present study was carried out to evaluate the performance of check-dams, location across the streams in the retention of the fine sediments in Dam-tang watershed in Darab Iran. For this purpose, two of streams with many stabilized check-dams which were more t...

Site Selection of Kangan Municipal Solid Waste Landfill by Using a Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and GIS

Given the potential negative environmental impacts linked with wild landfills in the central part of the Kangan Region, there is a significant need to accelerate the development of controlled inter-municipal landfills. The study area with daily production of 92 tons of waste, due to lack of recycling equipment and incorrect locating landfill is faced with numerous environmental, health and soci...

Using multi-criteria evaluation techniques of fuzzy analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy TOPSIS in locating waste sanitary landfill sites

Considering non-normative extension and too much development of cities, the lack of accurate model of consumption, increasing waste production, the most logical and most economical method for disposal of municipal waste is sanitary landfill. Given that, to identify areas prone to waste landfilling requires application of comprehensive techniques. The main objective for the present research is t...

Comparison of parametric and fuzzy analytic hierarchy process in land evaluation (Case study: Varamin region)

In last decades, the skillful planning of land resources has become a major issue for rural development. The development of cultivated areas becomes gradually impossible due to ever increasing population growth and urban development. Fuzzy logic is preferred to Boolean logic for land evaluation, because fuzzy techniques lead to estimate for land use suitability on a continuous scale and can the...
